Cycling is an important part of a shift towards active travel in London and requires higher quality infrastructure. But pedestrians also deserve safer, more liveable streets.
In 2016, there were over seven times as many pedestrians killed in traffic collisions than cyclists in London, according to Transport for London statistics. Across the UK, 448 people walking were killed on streets in 2016, representing one-quarter of all road deaths (Department for Transport).
